Our Mission

Our mission is dictated by the Italian Law

Established in 1985, the Com.It.Es. (Committee of Italians Abroad) is a representative body of the Italian community, directly elected by Italian nationals residing abroad in each consular jurisdiction where at least three thousand citizens are registered with AIRE (Registry of Italians Residing Abroad).

According to the Italian law, the aim of Com.It.Es is to identify the social, cultural, and civil development needs of the Italian community in SA, also through studies and research. In collaboration with the consular authorities, regional and local governments, as well as organisations, associations, and committees operating within the consular jurisdiction, it promotes initiatives related to social and cultural life. Particular emphasis is placed on youth participation, equal opportunities, social and educational assistance, vocational training, recreation, sports, and leisure activities.

Additionally, the Committee works closely with the consular authorities to safeguard the rights and interests of Italian citizens residing within the consular district.

The Com.It.Es. of South Australia (SA) can consist of up to 12 members and, in accordance with Italian legislation, serves as a representative body for Italians abroad in their interactions with diplomatic and consular authorities.

We also have the possibility of electing co-opted members. Their candidacy follows a procedure strictly regulated by Italian law, with candidates being proposed by Italian clubs and associations in accordance with the prescribed timeline and rigorous legal requirements.

Meetings

Com.It.Es. SA will convene at least four times a year, plus subcommittee and subgroups will meet regularly to deliver projects, complete research and organise events.

The main Com.It.Es. meetings are open to the public and are attended by a representative of the Consulate of Adelaide as well as the Australian representative to the CGIE (General Council of Italians Abroad).

The Com.It.Es. regularly informs the community about its activities through contributions to local and international media (press, radio, and news agencies), public meetings and events, as well as publications on its website and social media channels.
